A seal pup has been rescued from a farmer’s field in Walton-le-Dale.
The pup was found a few hundred metres from the River Darwen near the Capitol Centre earlier today (Sunday 22 January).
The RSPCA and British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) were involved in the rescue. They were assisted by Becky from Vets for Pets.
After the BDMLR checked the pup over, it was released back into the wild at Fleetwood.
Local Shaun Coathup tweeted about the unusual incident.
Shaun said: “It’s not everyday a seal pup loses its way and ends up in a farmer’s field in Walton-le-Dale.
“It made its way a good few hundred metres away from the River Darwen near the Capitol Center.
“Thanks to some locals, @BDMLR, @RSPCA_official for the help to rescue this pup.”
