The cold weather has done Preston Police a favour with a set of snowy footprints helping officers link two men to a number of serious driving offences.
After a VW Golf was spotted in Cottam at around 1am today (Tuesday 17 January), patrols suspected it was being driven without insurance.
They signalled for it to stop on Tag Lane but the vehicle made off, overtaking other vehicles and reaching speeds of up to 75mph in a residential area full of snow and black ice.
A short time later two men were stopped on Beaminster Avenue.
The Golf was then located nearby – with eagle-eyed officers spotting the footprints that helped them link the men to the vehicle.

A Preston Police spokesperson said: “Two men – aged 33 and 34 and both from Preston – were arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving, drug-driving and failing to stop for police.
“Both remain in police custody.
“Our thanks go to Mother Nature for her assistance with this investigation.”
