The first Preston Historical Society talk of 2023 is set to take place.
The upcoming event will see Alan Crosby explore the music that would have been performed at Rufford Hall in the 1730s.
The music was revealed by a 1735 inventory in the Hesketh of Rufford collection at Lancashire Archives.
A spokesperson for Preston Historical Society said: “It is from the time of Handel and other leading Baroque composers, but this is about the music performed by amateurs – the family and their friends – at Rufford.
“Some of the repertoire was much older although other choices were very contemporary.”

The talk is illustrated and includes some examples of the music itself.
It will take place on Monday 6 February from 7pm to 8.30pm at Central Methodist Church in Lune Street, Preston City Centre.
Non-members can pay on the door but are encouraged to book a place on Eventbrite.
