Plans to convert a former barber shop into a cafe near Moor Park have been submitted to Preston City Council.

The proposal seeks for change of use of The Northern Hair Company in 43 Garstang Road, to a cafe which will provide hot food and drinks to the public.

If plans are given the go ahead, the existing access to the site will not be affected, and the ground floor and basement will be used for the cafe.

The operating hours will be between 8am and 11pm from Monday to Friday; on Saturday the cafe will be open from 8am to 12am and on Sunday 9am to 11pm.

The existing site is situated within the Moor Park Ward and is located on the junction of Garstang Road (A6) and Havelock Street.

To the East of the vacant building is an educational centre and fuel station fronting Garstang Road. Further East and West consist of residential use properties in the form of individual homes.

On behalf of the applicant, Mr N Patel of Chai Masala Ltd, agents A&T Architectural Design Ltd said: “The proposals will not affect the character and appearance of the area. It is our intention to provide a scheme, which will enhance the environment, provide a good benefit to the community.

“We share the Councils views in uplifting the area and encouragement given to support such developments and we hope the planning committee and the residents would share the same views.”
