Preston is to have its first ever family Jingle Bell Jog in December, which will raise funds for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity’s Children’s Appeal.
The one mile fun run around the all-weather running track at the UCLAN Sports Arena in Tom Benson Way starts at noon on Sunday 11 December.
It is aimed at all ages and abilities, including well-behaved dogs on a lead. There is a special prize for the best festively costumed pooch as everyone taking part is encouraged to dress up.
Members of the North West Ambulance Service Choir will serenade joggers and there will also be visits from Santa and Frozen’s Olaf.

Appeal fundraiser, Lucy Clark, said: “This is a first for Preston and the trust’s charity team. It’s an opportunity for families to come together in the busy run-up to Christmas and have some fun, fresh air and exercise in a way that helps others in our community through support of our Children’s Appeal.”
The charity team’s Children’s Appeal is aiming to raise £1 million for a wish list of items to bring about a raft of improvements to children’s in and outpatients at the Royal Preston Hospital, Chorley and South Ribble Hospital, Leyland’s Broadoaks Child Development Centre and other local children’s facilities managed by Lancashire
Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

With the Jingle Bell Jog sponsored by Farington roofing company Gables UK Ltd, every penny raised will go to the appeal.
The company’s managing director, Andy Snook, said: “We are delighted that Gables UK is able to support such a worthwhile charitable cause within our local community. We hope everyone has a wonderful day and really enjoys this charity event.”
Participation costs £3 per person or £10 for a family of four. Pet entry is free and there will be on the day sign up from 11am. The sports arena has changing facilities, toilets and a cafe serving hot drinks and snacks.
