A Broughton-based group is helping to train the teachers of the future.
The Preston Primary and Secondary Teacher Training Alliance is based at Broughton High School.
The Alliance is made up of a variety of primary, secondary and special schools.
Its School Direct training programme provides graduates with a direct route into teaching.
Trainees are mentored by outstanding teachers within the Alliance, and receive specialist input from University of Cumbria staff, leading to the award of Postgraduate Certificate of Education with Qualified Teacher Status.
The Alliance trains teachers for Early Years, Primary and Secondary age groups and from subject specialisations across the curriculum.

Former Corpus Christi Catholic High School pupil Ben Moon started training with the Alliance in September.
Ben said: “I am thoroughly enjoying my time on the School Direct programme where I am very well supported in my placement at Broughton High School.
“My day usually starts at around 8am and before I know it the bell is ringing for the end of the day.
“It has been an overwhelmingly positive and rewarding experience working with children from my local community.”

The Alliance offers school experience days to potential trainees, which give an insight into a typical day and offer the chance to talk to teachers and current trainees.
Applications for postgraduate teacher training are made on the gov.uk website.
More information on the Alliance can be found on the Preston Primary and Secondary Teaching Alliance website.
