A Just Stop Oil talk is coming to Preston.
Just Stop Oil is a campaign that demands the UK government ends all new fossil fuel licenses.
The event will take place at the Preston Climate Emergency Centre by the Flag Market.
Organisers say some of Britain’s leading climate campaigners will be in attendance.
Richard Spence, talk organiser, said: “The UK’s chief scientist, Professor Sir David King, says we have just three years to avoid locking in climate breakdown, which will make life in Preston as we know it unrecognisable within 10 to 20 years.
“This year has already seen the hottest day on record in Britain and millions displaced in the global south by extreme weather exacerbated by climate change. People from Preston have been at the heart of some of the world’s most innovative climate campaigning, including Extinction Rebellion and anti fracking.
“Whilst many people in Preston are now acutely aware of the need for urgent action on what scientists say is the greatest threat we’ve ever faced, most of us don’t know what we can do about it.
“This no holds barred talk will not only tell the truth about how serious and urgent things are, it will also spell out clearly what each of us can do about it.”
