A new anthology of short stories with a connection to Lancashire is set to be launched with five free events across the region – including Preston.
Lancashire County Council commissioned 17 talented, professional authors to write ‘Lancashire Stories’, which delves into the area’s people, places, heritage and mythology.
A total of 12,000 copies of Lancashire Stories, printed with help from UCLan Publishing, will be given away for free at our libraries, museums and archives – with an exclusive eBook version being available on BorrowBox, with five additional stories – after Lancashire Day (November 27).

The first event launching the stories will begin from the heart of Preston at Lancashire Archives, on Tuesday 29 November, starting at 7pm.
Councillor Peter Buckley, Cabinet member for community and cultural services said: “This collection of stories is a wonderful way to celebrate Lancashire.

“They have been created by an exceptional group of talented authors and there is something for everyone.
“There are stories that bring to life past generations and stories set in the future which relate to the places we recognise today. What a great way to spend an afternoon, immersed in a free book.”
Tickets for all the events are available free of charge from Eventbrite, and there’s more information available on the Lancashire County Council website.
