Preston MP Sir Mark Hendrick has officially opened a brand new state-of-the-art recording studio for young people at Creativity Works.

Sir Mark cut the ribbon at the new facility, which includes a Live Room and recording studio, at the end of October.

The studio boasts the latest music recording technology and new musical instruments including guitars and a full drum kit.

The £18,000 investment was funded by a Children in Need Youth Investment Fund, and will be used by young people aged 14 to 19 years old who are studying vocational programmes at Creativity Works.

The offer will also be extended for community use in the evenings.

Sir Mark said: “I have visited this centre many times before and I am always encouraged by the effort the whole team puts in to ensure that learners get the best support and tools necessary to complete their training.

“It’s also great that this investment will not only benefit the students but also aspiring musicians in Preston.”

Steve Egan, Creativity Works CEO, said: ‘We are delighted that long standing supporter of CWP, Sir Mark Hendrick, has found the time to officially open our new facility. We are grateful to Sir Mark and the Youth Investment Fund for showing faith in CWP through the provision of the grant.

“We already had a basic facility and now we have created a professional music studio that will be put to great use by the young people of Preston. There wasn’t anything like this in Preston before and you would have had to go as far as Manchester to access a professional studio, so we’re hoping that local bands and musicians will be able to use these facilities.”
