Chorley Council has announced its plans to hold a Remembrance Sunday parade and service to pay respect to the Armed Forces this weekend.
A parade will start at 10.25am on St Thomas’ Road and set off to the cenotaph in Astley Park via Market Street and Park Road. The service will commence at the cenotaph around 10.45am, followed by a two-minute silence and wreath laying to honour all service men and women who gave their lives to the nation.
The parade will be led by regimental groups, local service veterans and community groups, the Mayor of Chorley, Councillor Julia Berry, the deputy chief executive, Chris Sinnott, and council members. The Rector of Chorley, Father Neil Kelley, will lead the service at the cenotaph.

Councillor Julia Berry, the Mayor of Chorley, said: “Residents and visitors can join us for the Remembrance Sunday parade and service in Astley Park. The annual event is a respectful way to pay our respects to those who fought and lost their lives for our freedom and to show those who continue to serve how appreciated they are.
“I encourage the residents of Chorley to wear a poppy and join us for the procession and reflection on Remembrance Sunday”.
Following the parade and service, Chorley Pals, a local group honouring those from Chorley and the district who served in the Chorley Pals Company during World War I, will hold a wreath-laying service at the Pals Memorial Statue on Union Street. The ceremony will begin at 12.30pm.
Those who wish to lay a wreath during the service should contact Glyn Gaskell at 07495 020077.
