A show inspired by Netflix hit Stranger Things is coming to Preston.
New production Shock Horror is a ghost story that combines live theatre and pre-recorded feature film multimedia.
The Thunder Road Theatre show features Preston native Alex Moran, who appeared in National Theatre’s global tour of War Horse, and Emmerdale’s Chloe Proctor.
With jump scares aplenty and nostalgic nods to films of the past, Shock Horror is said to take audiences on a heart pounding journey into the depths of human psyche.

The story follows Herbert (Moran), a horror film fanatic. Raised in a cinema that screened only horror, and hidden away by his deranged mother, Herbert develops a talent for making films of his own.
Returning to the derelict cinema he grew up in, he presents his best film yet – Shock Horror – but something could be lurking behind the curtain.

Award-winning writer and film director Ryan Simons (Tea With The Reaper; Demon Eye) took inspiration from the classic horror films of the 70s and 80s.
Simons said: “I’ve always wanted to write horror for stage. There is something so unnerving and inescapable about watching it live.”

Shock Horror is Thunder Road’s seventh production after the sell-out success of The Body Snatcher, which appeared in Preston in 2019.
Founded by Alex Moran at UCLan in 2011, Thunder Road produces horror stories of the modern era, exploring issues that affect young people.
Shock Horror is on at the Media Factory on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 November at 8pm. Tickets are available from Eventbrite.
