A planning application has been submitted to convert a betting shop into a cafe in Fishergate.
The former William Hill Bookmakers next to The Old Vic in Preston City Centre is where the proposed development would reside.
The proposal in 78A Fishergate, seeks for change of use from betting shop (Su Generis) to cafe (Class E) with amendments to the façade and temporary external seating to the front and rear.
The site is currently vacant and will be retouched externally to give a modern look with a ceramic tile wall finish and aluminium doors opposed to the existing painted timber doors.

The applicant, Leigh Norton, owner of popular brunch spot – Rise situated in Miller Arcade, is looking to attach a fascia sign and projecting box sign attached to the front of the building as a form of advertisement for the cafe.
The colour of the text would be pink with a bronze background for the fascia sign, and the background would be a ‘cream surround’ and the text would be bronze for the projecting or hanging box sign.
