Plans have been submitted to build high rise flats on the former Dryden Mill site in Preston City Centre.
The planning proposals present 469 flats and maisonettes split into six blocks with a new thoroughfare known as the ‘Green Street’ running between Grimshaw Street and Manchester Road.
The apartment blocks ranging from three storeys to a maximum of 16 storeys in height will offer three main accommodation types: retail units at ground floor, market housing, and housing for over 55s.
To improve the area there will be the likes of private gardens, landscape screening, a cafe terrace area, and enhanced entrances.

The proposed area has been identified as a key site within the new Stoneygate Masterplan produced on behalf of the City Council, and is bound by Grimshaw Street to the East, Manchester Road to the West, and Queen Street towards the South.
Developer Stoneygate Living Ltd proposes just over a quarter of the flats – around 129, will be aimed at the over 55s with a communal garden space in view, to socialise and interact, and promote health and wellbeing.
There are 118 parking spaces proposed in areas of open spaces which will serve as parking courts to provide central greenery spaces, aligned to the two blocks of the development, North and South.

There will be 52 in the South court, and 53 in the North court each including six disabled parking spaces and 13 along Manchester Road.
On behalf of the applicant, agents Cassidy and Ashton Ltd, said: “The buildings presented will create a new statement of Preston’s future as a major urban centre, providing living accommodation for a mix of people, creating consumer demand for a range of amenities and city centre activities.
“The construction of the new build development will bring employment and require the buying of local goods.”
