Plans have been submitted for the part demolition of the Sheraton House in Preston city centre to provide housing and commercial units.
The proposal in 13-29 Ormskirk Road, seeks to convert a number of vacant commercial and office units which formerly housed a gym, restaurant and number of offices into two commercial units and six apartments.
The ground floor would include the commercial units with accompanying storage, waste storage and staff facilities, along with access to the above floor residential apartments.
The first and second floors would accommodate the housing ranging from one-person to six-person apartments.

The Sheraton House sits just outside of the Harris Quarter Area and is a two-minute walk from Preston Bus station. It has been left in disrepair and requires investment to return it to valuable use.
In terms of design and appearance, the site has a mixture of both high-rise and low-rise properties which sits in close proximity to each other. They share a similar material pallet of facing brick (red, brown, or buff) with detailing in cream stone.

On behalf of the applicant, agents Tang and Associates Ltd, said: “The development offers the opportunity to bring a historic building back into long-term use in line with the vision of planning sustainable cities.
“Alongside this, bring back residential use to this area will act as a form a passive surveillance reducing the accounts of anti-social behaviour.
“Although the site is outside of the Harris Quarter Area, it is of the view of the design team that we work in parallel with the vision of the regeneration and see this project as providing housing in an increasing more attractive area for the future residents to Live, Work and Play.”
