Plans have been submitted to provide housing in a city centre area where many businesses have closed due to the decline in foot fall.
The new proposal in 135 Church Street, seeks for change of use of the first, second and third floor into a 15 Bedroom Bedsit with a one-bedroom flat on the ground floor.
The building is situated in the town centre with retail shops, hairdressers, offices, pubs and takeaways surrounding the area.
Currently the ground floor is only occupied by a newsagents and café. The first, second and third floor is currently vacant.

The design and access statement said: “The shop premises are ideal for a residential conversion due to the closure of many businesses because of the decline in foot fall in the town centre and the need to provide additional housing.

“The bedsits / flat will be of a high standard and the developer is looking to work towards the European standards.
“The proposal would be suitable as it is close to the Bus and Train Station and car parks located in the surrounding area.
“The proposed use will not only contribute to the vitality of the area it will not cause harm through intensification of traffic or cause nuisance for local residents.”
