In September, the Mayor of South Ribble joined Queers at one of their group meetings to discuss plans for charitable causes and more inclusive events in the area.
Queers is Lancashire’s newest non-profit LGBTQIA+ social group for people aged 18 and over. The group gets together on the second and fourth Thursday of every month to meet new people, make new friends, and socialise by going out for a meal.
Councillor David Howarth proposed Queers hold a charitable event to raise money for local LGBTQIA+ and Mayoral charities; St Catherine’s Hospice, Lancashire Mind, and The National Autistic Society, with a view to developing South Ribble’s first ever Pride event to coincide with the anniversary of the New Longton Post Office Pride Flag Waving.

The Queers group is currently seeking members of the LGBTQIA+ community, allies and local businesses, big and small, who would like to volunteer contributions, time and talent to bring the Mayor’s proposed queer-centric charitable event to life.
