All cancer patients starting chemotherapy at Rosemere Cancer Centre are to be given potentially life-saving “alert cards” after Rosemere Cancer Foundation agreed to fund the printing of 3,000 new cards.
Should patients become ill, the purse-friendly credit card sized cards alert health professionals to the signs and symptoms of chemotherapy side-effects and complications, which in rare cases may be life-threatening.

The charity has previously funded the cards but as the cancer centre’s chemotherapy unit treats 300 patients per week, approximately 30 of which are new patients, stocks had run low enough to need another print run.

Dan Hill, chief officer of Rosemere Cancer Foundation, said: “In project terms, funding alert cards is simple and cheap but their potential impact could be lifesaving and you can’t get anything bigger than that.”
The charity funds cutting-edge equipment, clinical research, staff training and innovative services and initiatives that the NHS cannot afford in order to make patients’ cancer journey more effective, comfortable and stress-free.
