The UCLan Confucius Institute will host a ‘World Health Qigong Day and Chinese Moon Festival’ event at University Square later this month.
AdvertisementOn Sunday, 11 September, from 10.30am to 12.00pm, UCLan will host the free event at the Mobile Entertainment Tent at the University Square in Preston to coincide with World Health Qigong Day (10 September) and the mid-autumn festival, also known as the Moon Festival in China.
An institute representative will introduce two routines, one to ‘enhance vision’ by ‘invigorating energy flow’ along the ‘meridians’ corresponding to the five major organs and by massaging key acupoints related to vision.

The other routine is to restore the ‘dynamic balance’ of the spine and reduce pain and discomfort in the neck, shoulders, lower back and other parts of the body with ‘precise’ stretches targeting different parts of the spine and related muscles and ligaments.
Attendees will follow the movements and try ‘dynamic Qigong’ – a ‘beautiful art of health’ enhancement from China.
Guests will enjoy a Q and A session over Chinese tea and moon cake afterwards.
