The free, drop-in event was due to take place on Saturday (10 September).
It would have featured insights from people who have have been touched by suicide, plus stalls hosted by local community and support organisations.
People responded to the news with concern.
One said: “I know this is out of your hands, I’m uncomfortable with the message it sends to anyone who was planning on coming to investigate what help they could access with suicidal thoughts.”
Another added: “This is an important event and could save someone’s life.”
