A Preston based music artist has released two songs for world record-holding Scottish boxing twins Kay-Lee and Leigha Barnes.
The opportunity arose for Liam Blake, professionally known as BLKY, through a mutual clothing sponsor he shares with the Irvine twins called Cayden James Clothing who thought the rapper would be fit for the role.
In his previous work, BLKY released ‘The Kings Anthem’ a tribute to heavyweight champion Tyson Fury for overcoming his mental health struggles.
From the lessons he learnt on composing the track, Liam spent months crafting a piece that Kay-Lee and Leigha Barnes would use as their ring walk music for future bouts.

The 26-year-old said: “I really liked the challenge of writing a song about these two young female boxers because that’s something quite different to anything I’ve ever done before, and to be able to show my support and help them in their journey is a very proud moment.”
The project also celebrates his personal journey in a competitive industry. This month marks the ten year anniversary since BLKY did his first ever gig.

At the mere age of eight, Kay-Lee and Leigha have each secured children’s world titles. The songs ‘Born 4 this’ and ‘Double Trouble’ are meant to motivate them on their ongoing journey as professional boxers.
The track ‘Born 4 this’ was made intentionally to help people in pursuing their own dreams as well as supporting the twins.
BLKY said he wanted one of the tracks to not be as specific or literal, so other people could listen to the song for an element of relatability: “There’s a lot of parallels between trying to be a sports star and trying to be a music artist, the chances that you are ever going to be a huge success in those fields are so slim.
“You have to fight so hard, you need to have so much grind and motivation and self-belief.
“That’s something I really wanted to push across because everyone in some way, has this way of thinking that I wish I could do this or I was born to do this, and that’s how I feel about music and it’s how the twins feel about boxing.”
BLKY is now looking forward to potentially filming a video in Scotland.
He told Blog Preston it would be ‘absolutely fantastic’ to get a scene where Kay-Lee and Leigha Barnes are walking out to the music.
You can stream the songs Born 4 This and Double Trouble on Spotify.
