Representatives appealed for a continued calm and respectful dialogue at the meeting on Tuesday (27 September).
Civic leaders including the Mayor of Preston, Councillor Neil Darby, and senior police officers also attended the event.
A spokesperson for organisers Light Foundation said: “In the wake of the violent clashes in Leicester and Birmingham, deep anguish, and collective sadness was displayed by all attendees.

“A strong resolve to counter any extreme and hateful narratives being promoted to divide both communities was discussed.
“Participants called on the importance of strong interfaith relations between grassroots Hindu and Muslim communities, in a search of renewed spirit of common humanity.
