The M55 Dagger road bridge in Fylde will be closed for five days this week for maintenance and repair.
AdvertisementNorth West National highways will carry out the work from Monday 5 September (8am) to Friday 9 September (5pm).
They will be replacing a joint in the concrete on the carriageway, to ensure the bridge is well maintained and safe to use and to improve access for those on foot, they will resurface both footpaths on the bridge.
A spokesperson for National Highways said: “We will need to close the bridge to traffic 24/7 for the duration of the work, A fully signed diversion will be in place which has been agreed in advance with the police and local council. The same diversion will be in use for travel in the opposite direction, but in reverse.”

Traffic will divert along Salwick Road, left on to Harbour Lane, continue till junction with Treales Road, turn left on to Treales Road, continue to Dagger Road.
Disruption should be minimal, but you should allow additional time for your journey while these repairs are completed. Access for pedestrians will be maintained during the work with one footpath open for those on foot.
If there is bad weather, the work will stop, customers will be updated via the National Highway Website and social media channels for any changes.
