A Preston interfaith group last weekend welcomed non-Muslims and the Mayor of Preston to a Q and A night to discuss Islam’s place in the modern world.
On Sunday, 28 August 2022, from 8pm to 9.30pm, Light Foundation and Greensville Trust received guests at Preston Quaker Meeting House.
The evening, titled ‘The Way of Islam: Beyond the Misconceptions’, featured a talk with international guest speaker Shaykh Habib Kazim al-Saqqaf from Yemen, with ‘a great number’ of non-Muslims in attendance.

A Light Foundation representative said: “Our event saw non-Muslims turning up to listen to our honourable teacher Shaykh Habib Kazim al-Saqqaf, an esteemed scholar, an exemplar of the prophetic tradition and direct descendant of the Prophet Muhammad, hailing from the beautiful valley of Hadhramaut, Yemen.
“In the spirit of breaking down barriers, prejudices and misconceptions about the Islamic faith, we were joined by representatives from all faiths and none.
“Attendees came from the general public, civic and religious leaderships (including political councillors across different respective parties) and key representatives from professional and academic backgrounds.”
