Marks and Spencer quashes rumour of Preston city centre store decline

There have been concerns from local residents about the future of the Marks and Spencer store in Fishergate in Preston city centre.

One local told Blog Preston that they and others are worried about the the retail store’s long term viability, saying they believe it is being ‘deliberately run down’ with a ‘massively reduced number and range of clothing options’.

They fear a closure would pose a ‘significant risk for the viability of our retail business community in the city centre’.

However, a spokesperson for Marks and Spencer reviewed sales data for the city centre store, and told Blog Preston that there was no issue and that any claims to the contrary were ‘rumours’.
