An overturned car and trailer on the M6 at Junction 31 near Preston has delayed traffic after the closure of two lanes and the northbound exit sliproad.

The closures will likely add pressure to traffic navigating existing roadworks on the A59 at Brockholes Brow, as the route is a key link to East Lancashire and beyond and for travelling north or south via the M6.

National Highways said there are ‘delays building on the approach to the scene’, and travellers should allow extra time if heading in that direction.

In 2021, one lane was closed after a small landslip occurred on a steep wooded embankment, resulting in part of the slope encroaching onto the road.
