Preston North End Women comfortably eased past Blackpool Girls and Ladies on Wednesday night with a 4-2 win in their second game of the season.

Following their 2-2 draw against Accrington Stanley on Sunday (21 August), PNE were looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the season in the North West Women’s Regional League Division One North.

Blackpool entered the game at UCLan Sports Arena with a positive start to the season too, after a 5-1 win over Morecambe at the weekend.

Preston looked comfortable on the ball immediately from kickoff, seen through an excellent team effort of passes and chances. Madison Hadley’s stunning 6th minute goal opened the goalscoring for North End, and an exquisite hat-trick shortly followed from the striker inside the first 15 minutes of play.

Goalkeeper Justine Elliott made some excellent saves, keeping Preston ahead during a tense hour of play. Both teams had their chances with some fantastic attempts on goal. Blackpool were able to pull back two goals in the 44th and 56th minutes, but were no match for the team in white and blue.

Preston’s victory was further established through Madison Hadley yet again in the 72nd minute to make it 4-2, providing an important three points in this local derby.

Preston North End Women look exciting and strong as the league gets underway, and the team had a crowd of around 100 spectators watching them play.

All home games are played at UCLan Sports Arena, with the next on Sunday 4 September at 2pm against Haslingden Ladies and Girls. Prior to that, PNE will face Morecambe Women and Girls Reserves away on Wednesday 31 August.

PNE Women are supported by Preston North End Community and Education Trust, which provides resources and staffing.

The Trust is running a Girls Talent ID Inclusion Event on Tuesday 30 August at Christ The King High School in Frenchwood. For more information, visit the PNECET website.
