A Fylde brass band has appointed a new musical director who spent five years with Liverpool-based band Allerton Brass.
Freckleton Band has welcomed Adam D. J. Taylor, who has as a ‘wealth’ of brass playing, teaching, and conducting experience and is a foundation scholar graduate of the Royal College of Music in London.
With multiple podium places, two national finals and an array of exciting and innovative concert performances under his belt during the band’s short history, Adam helped bring them from the fourth section to the second section quickly.

Mark Rossall, the president of Freckleton Band, said: “We are delighted to welcome a musician of Adams calibre to Freckleton.
“Everyone involved with the band is excited to see what we can achieve in the next phase of the band’s history.”
In addition, Adam was also associate conductor in residence at the Wingates band from 2018 to 2022, where he worked alongside their previous director, Paul Andrews.

A trombonist by training, Adam has performed with orchestras such as the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, English National Opera, Northern Ballet, and multiple other chamber ensembles, brass bands, show bands, and jazz outfits.
Adam’s work as a composer and arranger is well established, and his music has been heard on concert and contest stages and in recorded media across the brass banding world.
Winner of the 2012 Brass in Concert ‘Best New Composition’ award, Adam has worked with many bands all over the UK and beyond to deliver exciting and innovative new music.

In 2017, Adam launched a new publishing company, ‘Cantatio Publishing’, along with his good friend and business partner, Mark Quinn.
Adam added: “I am humbled to be offered this opportunity to work with Freckleton, a wonderful organisation with a rich history rooted in its local community and the banding world beyond.
“I’m looking forward to working together to help deliver some exciting new projects and performances in the near future!”
