The Larder will be hosting a special evening Foraging Supper Club, provided by Denise Heys, aka The Gardening Lady later this summer.
Advertisement“I will be Front of House presenting each dish and explaining how each part has been foraged and prepared,” said Denise, who regularly runs craft workshops and foraging events from her purpose-built studio in Penwortham.
Denise has been running foraging workshops for the past seven years. Horticulturally trained, she knows which plants are edible and which are the ones to stay away from!
As well as running workshops Denise regularly hosts supper clubs and foraging and dining workshops, inviting people to take walks through local woodland, taking notes and photos of the plants that they find. During the walks, participants learn about the plants and which are safe to forage at that particular time of year.
“The workshops bring people closer to nature,” said Denise. “People have told me that they calm the nerves and help people forage for nutritious, healthy food that they didn’t know was there.”
The Larder has been promoting healthier and sustainable food to the public for over three years, and this latest event will see Denise presenting her Summer Foraging Larder Take Over Menu.
The vegetarian menu will include drinks upon arrival, canapés such as wild garlic pinwheels, a starter of rose petal rosehip Gazpacho soup, and a main of oyster mushroom tart slice served with a selection of side dishes. To finish off, Denise will be serving an elderflower trio of desserts and coffee or tea served with nettle and wild rose choc brittle.
The event will take place on Saturday 13 August from 7pm to 10pm at The Larder in Lancaster Road.
Tickets are £25 plus booking fee, bookable on Eventbrite. Contact The Larder for details of the full menu to be served on the evening.
