Preston Sports Club is upgrading its facilities by replacing the 30-year-old floodlights with new LEDs to improve customer experience for the local community.
A crowdfunder of £20,000 has been set up to achieve this goal, with the total standing at over £18,000 with two weeks to go.
Preston Sports Club itself exists to improve the physical health, mental health and social skills of the local community in the heart of Preston. This is achieved through coaching, recreational and competitive games for cricket, hockey and football.

The sports club in Broadgate is home to both Preston Cricket Club and Preston Hockey Club, both of which have vibrant junior sections. The club also hosts BAC/EE junior football teams. In total Preston Sports Club sees over 3,000 individuals playing sports across the year.
With new floodlights it means Preston Sports Club can provide improved facilities for the local community and ensure future generations have a city centre sports venue to be proud of.
Club stalwart, Simon Marshall, said: “We are in the middle of a programme to upgrade our facilities, having recently refurbished our clubhouse and laid a new surface on the artificial pitch.
“Replacing the 30-year-old pitch floodlights with new LEDs will both improve the playing experience we offer, whilst helping to reduce maintenance costs, electricity costs and our carbon footprint.
“As a not-for-profit organisation, we rely on fundraising such as this crowdfunder to be able to continuously improve our offering to the local community.”
