Police were called to the store on Merry Trees Lane at around 11pm on Wednesday (13 July).
Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Bradley Day, 34, of Redcar Avenue, Preston, has been charged with burglary.
Police have bailed him to appear at Preston Magistrate’s Court on 4 August 2022.

Police have arrested a man following a burglary at a Cottam Co-Op that has seen a spate of incidents over the last 12 months.
Preston Police said the burglary occurred shortly after 11pm on Wednesday, 13 July, at the Co-Op store on Merry Trees Lane, Cottam.
They received a call reporting a break-in in progress, and they arrested a male at the scene, with enquiries ongoing.

The latest incident follows others at the store in January, one that saw shop staff threatened with a machete and hammer during an armed robbery.
Other incidents saw several burglaries involving the theft of alcohol and cash.
