A Leyland youth club has benefited from over £12,000 donated over three years by a local housing group.
Progress Housing Group donated the funds to a Lancashire community interest company to provide fun activities for youngsters, using its Community Investment Fund to award Shape Lancashire’s club £12,216.
Youngsters who attend the club, based at The Place Community Centre, Royal Avenue, enjoy arts and crafts, games, Wii sessions, multi-sports with a Preston North End sports coach, trampolining, water sports, go-karting, archery, and foot golf.

Director of Shape Lancashire Mandy Foster said: “We are delighted to receive funding as this has enabled us to run a weekly term-time youth club for children from age eight upwards in the Wade Hall area of Leyland.
“The youth club provides a safe place for children to enjoy activities, make friends, be themselves, and learn new skills.
“We have match funding from Children in Need to deliver holiday activities and targeted sessions, which means we can offer year-round activities for young people.”

The Community Investment Fund is available to groups and organisations to develop projects that benefit communities in areas where Progress Housing Group has properties.
Progress Involvement Officer at Progress Housing Group, Alan Greig, said: “We are thrilled to be able to support Shape Lancashire and its youth club through the Community Investment Fund.
“The project is an example of the fund providing opportunities to our communities to develop and grow through sports, health and well-being, arts and environmental projects.
“We wish them the best of luck in continuing these activities, benefiting youngsters in our local areas.”
