Preston residents with a love of knitting descended on Flag Market last Saturday for the World Wide Knitting in Public Day event.
AdvertisementOn Saturday, 11 June, Preston Flag Market saw the local groups ‘Knitting Café @ The Larder’ and ‘The Knit and Purl Jam’ share their enthusiasm for knitting, crochet and all things yarn-based with Preston residents.
The day’s designs included broomstick big knitting and a colourfully decorated bike.

New knitters and crochet beginners meet every two weeks at The Larder, with the next session on Tuesday 14 June, from 10.00am to 12noon.
All are welcome to drop in and learn a new skill or brush up on old skills, with the group meeting every week on a Thursday at The Larder, from 10.00am until 12.30pm.
The group said all are welcome for a ‘good old knit and natter’ at this inclusive community and skill share group.

The Knit and Purl Jam yarn decoration group meet every second and fourth Sunday of the month at The Larder, with the next session on Sunday 12 June, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.
The group said all are welcome, whatever their skill level.
Participants can join various knitting and crochet projects ‘to make Preston more beautiful’.
