The line up has been revealed for a celebrity charity football match taking place to raise funds for Rosemere Cancer Foundation and Len Johnrose Trust.

Stars from Coronation Street, Hollyoaks and Emmerdale will take on a team of former football pros at the game at Chorley FC’s Victory Park.

Coronation Street stars Kurt, Chesney and Tyrone (actors Andy Whyment, Sam Aston and Alan Halsall) will appear for the Jet2 TV All Stars along with Romeo, Damon, Darren and Tony from Holyoaks (Owen Warner, Jacob Roberts, Ashley Taylor Dawson and Nick Pickard), and Jai and Sam (Chris Bisson and James Hooton) from Emmerdale.

Their opponents, Rosemere Legends, will include former Preston North End players Lee Cartwright and Graeme Atkinson, plus players from other Lancashire teams.

One of the organisers is Whittle-le-Woods football fan and chef Ian Crowther.

Ian, a cancer survivor, is hoping to replicate the success of a game he helped organise last May, which raised more than £4,000 for Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

This time around, all proceeds will be split equally with the Len Johnrose Trust, which raises funds for research into Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and to help former pro footballer Len Johnrose and his family as he battles the disease.

Defensive midfielder Len played for Preston North End during his professional career, which spanned almost 20 years.

Ian said: “I am delighted to be involved in putting on what I think will be a fantastic game of football for what I know are two absolutely fantastic causes.”

The match between the Jet 2 TV All Stars and the Rosemere Legends will kick off at 2pm on Sunday (8 May).

Tickets are priced at £5 for adults, £3 for children and £14 for a family of four (two adults, two children). They will be available on the day but can also be bought in advance online from the Rosemere website or WeGotTickets website.
