The Harris has welcomed visitors one last time before its doors are closed until 2024 for a £10 million refurbishment.
AdvertisementA series of curator tours took place at the Grade I listed building last week.
Designed to showcase the architectural beauty of the Harris, the tours also gave an insight into what it takes to pack away and move an entire museum, art gallery and library.

Local photographer Michael Porter attended one of the tours and captured the empty spaces and various artworks getting ready to be moved.
Michael said: “It was a bit odd to see the empty walls and hear the echoey sound. Also to get down into the basement where I have never been before.
“All of the boxes and crates gave an appreciation of how much work has been involved in packing away, especially knowing that most stuff has already been shipped to storage.”
