There are plans to create a gym within part of a former farm in Barton.
AdvertisementA planning application was registered last month for the change of use of part of unit 4 at Hill Top Farm in Jepps Lane from storage and distribution (Class B8) to indoor leisure facility (Class E(d)).
Hill Top Farm was historically a pig farm but became a timber yard in the 1960s/1970s before also being used as a builder’s yard/storage area since the 1990s.
The gym, located in the open countryside, is anticipated to be a members only club with opening hours of 5am to 9pm from Monday to Friday, and 6am to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday.
The current site is unrestricted by hours of operation so planners say the addition of the gym will have no adverse impact on neighbouring residents, with the nearest properties being Hill Top Farm Cottages at 113m, Brookside Cottage 182m and Blacow House Farm at 225m.
