The much-loved tradition of egg rolling returns to Avenham Park this Easter Monday.
After being cancelled for the past two years due to Covid, the 2022 event promises to be bigger than ever as it ties in with celebrations for the 20th anniversary of Preston becoming a city, and the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
There will be market stalls, performances, and workshops – not to mention the annual Easter Bonnet competition – and egg rolling itself will take place on the hour from 11am to 4pm.
Previous years have seen a variety of weather conditions for egg rolling, from grey skies and showers in 2016 to baking hot temperatures in 2019.
Landing somewhere in between, tomorrow is set to bring sunny intervals and a breeze.
Here’s the hourly weather forecast for 2022 egg rolling.
10am: As set up takes place, it will be 10 degrees with light cloud and a moderate breeze from the west
11am: The sun makes an appearance at the same time as the first of the egg rolls take place
12pm: Approaching lunchtime and sunny intervals continue with that moderate breeze still blowing
1pm: A little more warmth with lunch as the temperature increases to 11 degrees
2pm: No change from 1pm, but it’s good to know there’s a low chance of rain all day
3pm: The breeze dies down and temperatures climb to 12 degrees
4pm: The final egg rolls take place and it’s still 12 degrees with sunny intervals
