A Fulwood bus stop has been removed almost two weeks after being demolished by a lorry.
AdvertisementThe crash happened outside St Clare’s Catholic Church in Sharoe Green Lane on Friday 25 March. It was removed by Lancashire County Council workers on Wednesday 7 April.
After a reader contacted Blog Preston to complain about the delay – describing the bus stop as a ‘hazard’ and ‘obstruction’ – Lancashire County Council explained that an issue with the water main had prevented action being taken sooner.

A spokesperson for Lancashire County Council said: “We have now cleared the damaged bus stop and temporarily repaired the road surface.
“We would usually have done this very shortly afterwards, however the incident caused the road surface to be ripped up, damaging some equipment associated with a water main.
“This meant we had to take advice from the utility company responsible for the water main before being able to fully tidy up the site. We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused by this delay.
“We’re grateful for people’s patience while we work towards making a permanent repair to the surface and replacing the bus shelter.”
