Over-running roadworks at Junction 31 cause M6 and M61 gridlock at Preston

There are long delays on the M6 after overrunning roadworks have been in place this morning leading to a lane closure.

The emergency repairs between junction 30 and 31 northbound have now been completed and the roadworks are now being removed.

There are queues up to six miles northbound on the approach to the junction on both the M6 and M6.

There has also been congestion around Charnock Richard Services, adding to the delays.
