A mother and son who work together at a local delivery station have discussed how their roles strengthen their family bond.
AdvertisementHelen Chambers works as a sortation associate at Amazon in Leyland and is preparing to celebrate Motherās Day this weekend with one of her colleagues.
Helen works alongside her son Benn Chambers, a nightshift supervisor who has worked for Amazon for more than five years and with his mum since she joined the company.

Helen said: āWhen weāre in the building together, Benn is my supervisor!
āEven though heās my son, we are always professional, and I really enjoy working with him. Heās brilliant at what he does, and we have great fun too.ā
Helen has worked at Amazon since late 2021 and is one of the dozens of mothers working at Amazon across the UK who work alongside their children.

Helen works on a hybrid shift and Benn on the night shift. For a few hours each day, they enjoy working together.
Benn echoes his mumās thoughts when it comes to working together.
Benn said: āI love working with my mum because we get to see more of each other. We donāt live together, but by working at the same delivery station, we talk a lot more – and thatās great.”

Helen agrees with her son and said the best thing about working together is the chance to talk more.
Helen said: āWe talk every day, on the phone and in the building.
“I donāt think we spoke to each other as often when we lived together as we do now! Working at Amazon has given us more opportunities to interact with each other, which is lovely.”

Helen and Benn sort out packages for customers in Leyland and Lancashire.
Benn said: My mum is always there for me, and sheās been so supportive of my career and every decision Iāve made.ā
Helen has some advice for any family members who work together or are thinking about working together.

She said: āIt obviously depends on what sort of person you are and what relationship you have with your children, but my advice is to be respectful and professional at all times.ā
A family feeling encapsulates not just Benn and Helen but the whole team at Amazon in Leyland.
Benn added: āThe team feels like one big family, and everyone is always supportive and helpful – a nice bonus to work with your real family too.ā

Speaking ahead of Motherās Day, Benn reveals some of his plans for Helen.
He said: āIām working on that at the moment, but Iām sure thereāll be some flowers and a nice card for my mum!ā
Amazon Leyland Delivery Station Manager Craig Millar said: āHelen is a much-loved member of our team at Amazon in Leyland, and itās great that she gets to work alongside her son.
“I hope Benn has some special plans for Motherās Day and Helen enjoys her day.ā
