Today (March 8) is International Women’s Day.
It is celebrated each year to recognise the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
The event raises awareness about women’s equality, and lobbies for accelerated gender parity.
To celebrate International Women’s Day, a group of women from Preston gathered on Sunday 6 March at Xaverian Spirituality Centre.

The program was organised by Barkha Rani, Upasana Chopra and Swati Sonwalkar.
Father Cosmito Bideri supported the group to organise the event. The program was designed into two parts.
The Programme was inaugurated with a introductory note by Nisha Kaura, followed by talk by Dr.Dunni, who is a Mum, Doctor, writer and professor.
She spoke about how women are strong, powerful and invincible, with thousands of mantras encouraging women’s existence every day.
Later on Kate Bosman and Penny Craig shared their experiences.
The event highlighted that whether women are teachers, homemakers, economists, engineers or pioneers, women make the world a better place.
It showed that the patriarchy needs to be demolished, and women are rising above societal hurdles every day making them a force to be reckoned with.
The programme was attended by over 50 women and 15 girls, inspiring all who went.
