The family of Katy Holmes, who sadly passed away from a brain tumour in 2012, will take on the Ullswater Way walk to mark Katy’s 21st birthday.
AdvertisementMum Paula Slater used to run The Katy Holmes Trust in Preston to generate funds for paediatric brain tumour research, successfully raising over £1.1m before closing the charity to concentrate on family life.
Katy’s family plan to raise funds for Derian House Children’s Hospice as 2022 also marks ten years since she passed away, with Paula’s other children, Scarlet, now ten and Charley, 18.

Paula said: “Derian House were our saving grace when Katy was poorly, then died.
“This latest event would be a wonderful way to find closure, as the world is so full of doom and gloom now – It’s worth revisiting some of that pain if it helps children who need it the most.”
Paula was a Pride of Britain Finalist, won Inspirational Woman of the Year and a SHEro Award and featured in a book during the charity’s ten-year operation.
