Whilst Christmas shopping, families from Preston raised over £7,000 for blind and partially sighted people.
AdvertisementGalloway’s, a charity that supports people with sight loss, were overwhelmed by the response from the community who visited their grotto and gift wrapping service in St George’s Shopping Centre.
Events Coordinator at Galloway’s, Charlotte Carnell said: “We are incredibly grateful to the families who visited our grotto or made a donation through our gift-wrapping service, as together you helped us raise a staggering £7,201. We are genuinely touched by everyone’s generosity and kindness.

“All this would not have happened without the continued support from the team at St George’s, who we have once again partnered with to run the grotto on their behalf. We look forward to working with them again next year.
“We could not have achieved this without our dedicated volunteers who selflessly donated their time to helping out at the grotto or wrapping presents.”
Galloway’s has been supporting people with sight loss across Preston, Lancashire and across the North West for 150 years and the annual grotto and gift wrapping service is just one way the charity raises funds.
Andrew Stringer, general manager at St George’s Shopping Centre, said: “It is always heart-warming to see children enjoying their time with Santa and at the same time showing their support for such a great cause.
“Everyone has been exceptionally generous this year, which goes a long way to making a difference to blind and partially sighted people’s lives.”
