Police are asking for help to locate the driver of a car who may be able to assist with an investigation into a serious sexual assault in Preston city centre.

The incident was reported on Friday 7 January after a 17-year-girl from Preston was attacked by a man in Glovers Court.

The driver in question stopped in Glovers Court after midnight on Saturday 8 January. They stopped because the car door of a vehicle was open and blocking the road. Police hope they may remember this and be able to assist.

A previous appeal for witnesses saw two men and a woman come forward to help.

Det Con Sharon Clowes, of Preston CID, said: “We have now identified the men and the woman in the images and would like to thank them very much for contacting us. Thanks also to those who shared our appeal.

“I must stress none of the people we wanted to speak to are suspected of any crime, but possibly had information to help us piece together exactly what occurred that night.

“We would now like to speak to the motorist who stopped in Glovers Court on the night of the incident. If you think this is you, or you have any other information about this incident, please come forward.”
