The Mayor of Preston Javed Iqbal has opened a new estate agency in the city centre.
Century 21, which is said to be the world’s largest estate agent network, has opened at 35 Lune Street.
The Mayor introduced the estate agency into Preston’s rental market, and a charity fundraising drive for St Catherine’s Hospice and British Heart Foundation was put into place.
Former shopkeeper Sandeep Shukla identified a gap in the local rental market back in 2021 and launched his new venture with a first office in Southport under the support of the global estate agent.

Sandeep said: “I have lived and worked in Preston for many years, so I have a great understanding of the local community and recognise what people value here, not only from a property perspective, but also with customer service – they want honesty, good communication and a personable attitude.
“It’s a really exciting and promising time for people who are thinking of making the move here, as for the fourth year running, Preston was named the best city to live and work in the North West of England, beating Manchester and Liverpool.”
“I’m hoping to bring a diverse portfolio of properties to Preston in the coming months, with the aim that these will appeal to a range of househunters.”

Chris Summers, head of franchising at Century 21 UK, said: “Preston househunters will now have the opportunity to work closely with Sandeep, and take advantage of his vast knowledge of the local area, not to mention his honest and positive character.
“I’m pleased to welcome Sandeep to our growing network and I look forward to supporting him.”
