Two Preston Masonic lodges have come together for a centenary celebration.
Under the United Grand Lodge of England there is Preston Guild Lodge No 4408 for men. The Honourable Fraternity of Ancient Freemasons – Freemasonry for Women supports Preston Guild Lodge No 29.
No 4408 was founded in 1922 during the Guild Merchant and celebrated its centenary this year on Monday 7 February. No 29 was founded in 1952, which was another Guild Year.
The two Preston Guild Lodges marked the 100th anniversary together.
No 4408 invited the members of No 29 to a meeting and banquet at Preston Masonic Hall in Saul Street in the city centre.
This is the first time in many years that the two lodges have come together.

A spokesperson for Preston Guild Lodge No 4408 said: “The stereotype often is that only men can be Freemasons. That is not the case. There are well established Masonic Lodges of Women as well as those for men.
“In recent years both organisations have started to meet with each other and provide a united front supporting the values of Freemasonry. Both men and women wear the same regalia and use the same ceremonies.
“Coming together was easy and everyone is looking forward to the next time.”
