Lorry driver in hospital after fire and crash on M6 at Leyland

The driver of a HGV has been taken to hospital with head injuries following a crash on the M6.

Lancashire Police were called at 4.51am today (February 21) to reports of a single-vehicle RTC involving a HGV on the northbound carriageway of the M6 at junction 27.

Emergency services attended and found the vehicle had caught fire and the driver out of the vehicle.

A full motorway closure was initially put in place however, the southbound carriageway has since re-opened.

The northbound carriageway remains closed at this time.
