The Green Frog sad to say goodbye to much-loved staff member who was a ‘dream worker’

Jess Smith worked at The Green Frog for 18 years

The Green Frog on Mariners Way in Preston is sad to be losing a much-loved staff member who has worked there for 18 years.

Jess Smith took to the takeaway van’s Facebook page to write an emotional goodbye to all the customers she has got to know over the years.

She wrote: “Well, I never thought I’d ever be writing this status to be honest, and I’ll be nothing but honest, I’m genuinely gutted to have to write this.

Two kind-hearted colleagues have been thanked after they helped a customer who lost her purse and car keys.

Jackie and Dan from the Asda store in Fulwood helped an 82-year-old customer when she lost her purse and car keys.

Jackie has worked at the store for 30 years and when the lady couldn’t pay for her shopping, Jackie paid for the lady’s shopping out of her own money, before front-end section leader Dan drove her home.

Rosemere receives donation from Blues and Twos

Blues And Twos, a credit union based at Lancashire Constabulary’s Hutton headquarters, has donated £500 to charity Rosemere Cancer Foundation following a decision taken by members at the Annual General Meeting.

The Blues And Twos, which was founded 30 years ago to serve Lancashire Police employees now supports employees of the Police, Fire and Ambulance Services, NHS, schools, universities and more across the North West.

Preston man writes short stories during recovery from stroke

Paul Walmsley

A Preston man has written his first book following a major operation to remove a cyst from his brain.

Paul Walmsley, who underwent his operation at Royal Preston Hospital, then unfortunately suffered a stroke, which caused loss of movement in his left arm and affected his speech, among other issues.

To help on his road to recovery, Paul, a senior duty manager at a tennis and fitness centre in Preston, challenged himself to write a book of short stories.

50 new Lancashire Police officers to hit the beat

Fifty new officers have been welcomed to the front line of the Lancashire Constabulary family.

The new recruits will head out across the county to begin their careers serving and protecting the communities of Lancashire.

The new recruits who joined through the Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP), were sworn in at two attestation ceremonies at Lancashire Constabulary HQ.
