A historic Winckley Square charity with reserves of £600,000 is searching for applications from local causes.
The Daniel’s and Houghton’s Charity is an amalgamation of two charities created in 1649 and 1734 and provides relief to Lancashire residents in conditions of need, hardship or distress.
The charity offers items, services or facilities grants to those in need in Preston, Grimsargh, Broughton, Woodplumpton, Eaves, Catforth, Bartle, Alston and Elston.

Daniel’s and Houghton’s also assists charities that assess and target people in need and provide smaller grants to individuals or organisations.
The maximum request considered is £5,000, unless from an organisation or fellow charitable trust with a particular need.
They do not consider applications in person or from individuals directly, and all must be made via the charity website.

The charity, located at 26 Winckley Square, Preston, PR1 3JJ, recently approved an application from Broughton Church of England Primary School.
They provided laptops to children who could not access online learning during the school closure.
