A study analysed over 425 weather stations across the UK has found Preston to be one of the most naturally unhappy places, with some of the lowest predicted hours of sunlight this winter.
Divan Beds, who conducted the study placed Preston as the ninth unhappiest city or town with 147 hours of sunlight predicted over winter.
Using climate data from the Met Office, the average and overall sunlight hours during January, February and December were analysed, with each town and city being compared to find which places had the most and least sunlight hours.

It is estimated that two million live with Seasonal Affective Disorder in the UK and two-fifths of UK adults experience lower moods in winter due to the darker nights.
Neil Wright, a sleep expert at the company said: “Seasonal affective disorder affects more than just your energy levels; it also affects your sleep and day-to-day life.
“People with SAD often feel excessively sleepy during the day and typically sleep longer than usual at night.
“A greater focus on self-care may be beneficial. Getting outdoors, exercising regularly, eating energy-boosting foods, and socialising can reduce the onset of SAD symptoms.”
