A study that looked at which UK city has the strongest economy for small businesses, has placed Preston in the top 25 cities.
Preston took 24th place in the list of best cities for independent businesses. The results showed that the city had 188 active businesses per 10,000 people.
The city is also amongst the cities with the cheapest value for office floor space, which makes the city appealing for start-ups.

The UK has seen a rise in small businesses in the last five years and Preston is among the cities with the highest growth.
Small businesses in the city also have a good survival rate of 41.9 percent.
To conduct the study, Bionic looked at the 50 largest cities in the UK and at a number of factors including business start-ups per 10,000 people, five-year survival rate and the percentage of small active businesses.
